PUBLIC FACILITY RENOVATION
Hankyong Univ. External Elevator
[Vertical Geometry Imbued with Architectural Consideration]
This external elevator extension project delicately integrates universal accessibility for all, without compromising the historical identity and formal context of the existing public educational facility. Moving away from simply attaching a structure to the existing mass, we erected a vertical tower of pure geometric form, establishing a sophisticated tension and harmony with the original architecture. Through transparently open glass, we alleviated visual weight, designing it to act as a sculptural lighthouse that reflects the campus landscape by day and emits a subtle glow by night. It stands as a precise and direct testament to how meticulous architectural consideration for the vulnerable (Barrier-Free) can be sublimated into public aesthetic value.
